Letter to the Editor of the Mena Star
My husband and I came to Mena last Wednesday, just ahead of Rita. First thing we needed was a place to stay. Vision Realty helped us with that. We rented a kitchenette (unfurnished) newly remodeled. Within half an hour one of the ladies had someone bring us a hide-a-bed to use so we wouldn't be sleeping on the floor. Our dog (Casey) need to be cleaned, we asked the friendly waitress at Skyline Cafe who could help with that? They told us how to get the groomers. When we picked Casey up Tammie wouldn't let us pay. I couldn't believe the kindness. She said we had already been through enough. We went to Queen Wilhelmina State Park to eat lunch and were given a 25% discount because we were evacuees. Everywhere we went people were kind and helpful. This is where we would like to retire. When we needed kindness and a helping hand - we found it in Mena.
